Hi there,
With Thanksgiving break thrown in the mix, it wasn't as easy to get reading in. But now that we have a full week, it's time to get back to blogging.
What are your opinions of recent events? Why do you feel the way you do? What would you do if or how would you feel if you were in Moose's shoes? Why? Do you have predictions about what might happen next? Why do you think the way you do? What are questions you have for our bloggers based on the reading? What parts of the book have surprised, saddened, amused you? why? Which characters can you relate to, or which characters do you enjoy the most? Why?
Be specific when backing up your opinions. Also, be sure to post about recent events rather than things that have happened earlier in the story.

I like Natilie, beacuse she sounds cool! I would LOVE to hang with her someday! It would be really really fun to be with someperson that has a disibility!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want to be Moose and tell his friends that he can't play baseball. He did all that work changeing the day then his mom takes another job that wouldn't be fun.Do you think he should whatch his sister or go play baseball?
ReplyDeleteWould you like to be Moose right know, having to watch Nattle all the time? I thaught that was kind of weired that Moose's mom changed here piano time after Moose went through all the trouble to change the baseball date to tuesdays. did you think that, that was kind of weird?

I think that they are going to play baseball and have fun!!!! They are always haveing after school playing baseball. do you think Moose will be playing baseball with his friends while watching his little sister?
ReplyDeleteAustin, I think that Moose should watch Natalie because it’s what his mom told him to do. Also since Moose is in a lot of trouble with the Warden so he should just listen to his mom just in case Piper says Moose didn’t obey his mother.

Amanda why do you think it would really fun to hang with a person with a disability? I think it would be fun because people with disabilities have a very unique personality. My cousin has a disability and he has a very unique personality. In fact he knows more about space than I do and he’s only a 5th grader.
ReplyDeleteI guess the reason why he’s fun to hang out with is because he tells really funny jokes and I’ve learned a lot from him mainly about space.
Yes, I think that moose can play baseball while watching his sister. Because, if he brings her button box with, she’ll keep herself entertained. He can check on his sister every break they can get each inning.
ReplyDeleteMike, I agree that it proabably wouldn't be very fun to have your little sister following you around everywhere. I also agree that his mother is being kind of inconsiderate to Nick for not letting him play baseball. Especially after all the trouble he went throught to get the day changed. I do however see his mother's point of veiw. I understand that they need money. I aslo understand that she needs Nick to help out, but that doesn't change the fact that she is making life hard for Nick.
ReplyDeleteThey are in trouble now. I knew that the laundry mat service would be bad. Moose didn’t even do anything and he is still getting into trouble for it. I think that’s cool that you can get a bid dinner and go to a movie for $1.06! Natalie is really smart being able to do the math that quick. Do you think Piper will get in trouble or will she get away with it again? Why or why not?
ReplyDeletei think Natalie is oretty cool. i mean countingthings just by looking at one small peice of it is just amazing. i think shes like 15-20 becuae moose's mom says natalie is ten and she has been telling people that for years.

I think Scout's reaction to Nick not being able to play baseball on Tuesday was a bit over the top. I realize that Nick is the reason he changed the day in the first place, but he didn't have to freak out and make Nick feel terrible. Its not Nick's fault that he has to watch his sister.
ReplyDeleteAmanda, I love working with people with disabilities. My mom works with people who have disabilities and I go there a lot and play games with them or just talk. You should try it, its really fun.

There was a part that really made me mad. It was when the warden called Moose, Piper, Annie, and Jimmy to his office because he was blaming Moose, Annie, and Jimmy for something that they were relatively innocent for. Yes, they took part, but only because they were pretty much forced to do it by Piper the “innocent”. At this point in time Piper is pretty much running the show both with the kids and with her father. Even if Warden Williams decides to punish her, what is he going to do, fire himself?! The warden ignored at least two glaring pieces of evidence that put Piper as the ringleader, not Annie or Moose. One was how the letter from the disgusted mom mentioned only Piper by name, no one else. Yes, it did say ‘Piper and her friends’ but it pointed out Piper as the ringleader or spokesperson. Another fact was how Jimmy, Annie, Moose, and Teresa all pointed to Piper as the leader. Yes, two of those people were being blamed but still. Also, I don’t think that they could have synchronized their stories in that short of time. The warden is obviously being influenced by someone who wants those three to get into trouble. That person would most obviously be Piper. Overall I think that the entire chapter entitled “Daddy’s little miss” is total bogus created by the ever devious, Piper. How do you all feel about that situation?? Did you feel as if there was another card yet to be dealt that we have yet to see.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think it’s fair to get Moose into trouble with the “Laundry Scheme” when he didn’t get payed. The warden should figure out that Piper was the one who planned the operation. Mike, I also agree that it was weird that Moose’s mom had piano that day. But she didn’t change it to that day, there was just another day she had to teach.

ReplyDeleteI think Piper is to get in trouble by her dad because maybe he will catch her in the act or Moose would be able to prove that Piper is doing the laundry scheme. My other prediction is I think maybe possibly Moose will try to get a Al Capone ball for Scout to make up for not going to the game that was held on Tuesday.

She sounds like fun to hang out with,and I would want hang out with her. I love how she likes buttons. She seems really nice and I dont like how Piper is so mean to her.
ReplyDeleteI think the warden should not have yelled at Moose. It's not fair that he got yelled at and he didn't do anything. I also think that Piper will sweet talk her way out of it. They also should not be punished when it was all Piper's idea. I also think that it was not right of Moose to give Nat her button and as much lemon pie as she wanted and left to go play baseball.

I have a friend that has a cusion that has a disibilty, her name is Brooke Hart..Shes cool!! yeah i don't really kno wat her cusion has. I will have to ask her sometime.....

She knos alot of big words that i don't even kno, and i kno ALOT of words because i read alot of books for AR. Well i gotta go the bell rang cya!! =]=]

Ecspecially when Moose's dad feaked on him! And now that his mom changed the plans for piano practice how is Moose going to play ball? Do you think Moose and his friends will someday see Al Capone? I think that Mabey They will find out that piper isnt all goddie goodie as they think she is. she is harsh and cruel. Piper is a brat. Moose Did Nothing. He didnt even get any money. Yet he is being chewed out by the Warden.

i think that in pert 2 that moose piper anne3 jimmie and natalie will get caught watching the prisoners and natalie won't move for all of the guards and moose will get caught for it.

ReplyDeleteMoose is ok even though he is goin' against the warden's rules and all that stuff. I think that Moose has too many responsibilitys that he should get a break and be able to play with his friends some more. I also wonder how there are so few kids on Alkatraz but alot of grown-ups. I also wonder how long Piper will be able to keep going with her goodie two shoes act. Also, can anyone tell me how long Ale Capone was in Alkatraz and how long he lived? Peace Out!

ReplyDeleteI just hung out with my cousin this weekend and I noticed that her disablity has gotten alot worse. I'm wondering if Natalie's will, too. Moose shouldn't be so up tight about everything.

ReplyDeleteI agree that Moose has too many responsibilities. He's our age and has a lot on his plate. He should be allowed time to play baseball. I think it's so unfair that he seems to get the short straw on everything. I think he's a good guy who just doesn't want to let anybody down. Scout's mad at him because he's missing baseball to help out his mom & family. Now he's in trouble because of Piper and her laundry scheme. He wanted nothing to do with it, but because he promised the warden to help Piper with her projects, he didn't think he could say no. I am crossing my fingers that people will finally see that Piper is a lying snot brat. Kids like her that point the finger at other kids and lie about them will get their due. Karma will get her in the end. Do you agree? Will Piper's lies catch up to her? On the other hand, I hope that Moose's good deeds in helping out with Natalie and his family and being unselfish will bring him good things later. I'm rooting for Moose because he is a good guy and good guys should finish first. What do you think?

ReplyDeleteI agree-I think the warden is kinda dumb and I think Piper knows she can get away with alot. And Piper seems to have no problem letting Moose take the blame. Do you think Piper will come clean and admit that this plan was her idea and she is to blame? I don't think so. Kids like her love to let others take the blame. She is a manipulator. She has fooled her dad for so long. Girls like Piper just don't care about anyone but themselves. They will be mean to other kids before other kids can be mean to them. It's called being a BULLY!!! And in the end, bullies will never win.

ReplyDeleteI think that Natilie is about that age. I think She has been like this for about five or six years. So she is around sixteen or seventeen.
What do you think of the book so far? What do you think of Piper? What do you think their next skeem is?
Haley I agree. Scout totally freaked out. I would be mad to, but not that mad. If Scout was a real friend he would change it back. Couldn't he just say he will change it back. He should just set a day and not change it for anything.

Piper is sneaky, mean, and cruel to Nat. I could go on and on about her. I used to have a girl like thqat in my class and I was like Moose because she always gave me her fake smile and stuff like that. One thing is for sure she should be caught and nobody elso should take the blame.

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I would really want to move if I was in Moose’s shoes…but I’m not and never will be so I will never be able to know how he did feel. No I do not have any predictions. Because I already know what’s going to happen. I don’t have emotions towards books, other then that they make me confused or mad, because I just don’t like books. I can relate to Annie, she’s just kind of there.

i think that moose might try to get farther into the baseball field and see if their is a base ball any where, and i think that scout might get one from moose and give it to piper and they might start going out. and you would think that moose would of gotton caut in the baseball field but he didnt. this might happen this is a suggestion i think that moose might tell als mother and they might get into the fence and and get in when al is playin baseball and he will escape
